Tina and Maxx’s wedding day was everything an Alaska elopement photographer dreams of—intimate, joyful, and surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. With the Chugach Mountains rising in the background and the still waters of Eklutna Lake glistening under the summer sun, this day was not just a celebration of love, but a reflection of everything they hold dear: nature, intention, and deep connection.
Their story began at an Air Force in-processing meeting—Tina’s fun fact was her love for mountain biking, and Maxx’s? He once drank a gallon of melted ice cream out of a rain gutter (yes, really). That quirky start led to hours of conversation on a long bike ride around Eklutna Lake, their “unofficial first date.” So, it only made sense that they would return to this same spot to say I do.
When Maxx proposed here during a snowy March site visit, Tina had no idea it was coming. He set up his camera to “take a picture”—and then hit record instead, capturing the moment he dropped to one knee. She said yes, of course.
Anyone who’s spent time around Eklutna Lake knows it’s pure magic. Tucked just outside Anchorage, it’s the kind of place that feels like a hidden escape—quiet, wild, and breathtaking. Tina and Maxx shared their vows right at the water’s edge, surrounded by their friends and family, soft mountain air, and the gentle hush of wind through the trees. It couldn’t have been more perfect. And we can’t forget the iconic Xtratuf boots, a staple for any true Alaskan wedding.
Every part of their day was filled with personal, thoughtful touches. From the bouquet lovingly arranged by family to the handmade cake adorned with lavender petal hearts, everything felt like a piece of their story. The celebration continued with a cozy potluck BBQ at a family friends home in Eagle River—simple, heartfelt, and shared with the people who mean the most.
As a wedding and elopement photographer in Alaska, I aim to capture not just portraits, but the spirit of the day. With Tina and Maxx, that meant stolen kisses in a field of dandelions, playful glances in the tall grass, and quiet handholds at the water’s edge. We embraced the beauty of natural light and unexpected moments—exactly how their day unfolded.
Their elopement is a reminder that weddings don’t need to be extravagant to be unforgettable. All you really need is a stunning location, a few people you love, and someone to document the magic.
Are you dreaming of your own Alaskan elopement? Whether it’s a mountaintop ceremony, a lakeside vow exchange, or a cozy backyard celebration, I’m here to help you plan and photograph a day that reflects your unique love story. Let’s create something beautiful together.
