A Letter To My Best Friend on Her Wedding Day

Deartest Alyssa, 

Today is your WEDDING DAY. Can you believe it? There aren’t enough words to express my excitement for you and Dustin. There also aren’t words to express how excited I am to be attending a wedding instead of working it, so thank you for that. You stood by me at my wedding and today I get to return the favor.

I wish there was a better story to the beginning of our friends than “Excuse me, I couldn’t help but notice you are tall. I am also quite tall. We should be friends”, but what more do you need? You have gone from my fellow tall friend, to my spiritual encourager, my comforter (like when my husband goes out of town and you sleep at my house cause you know I don’t like to sleep alone), my favorite gym partner, my concert buddy, my bridesmaid, the list goes on. You inspire me to be a kinder person, you taught me not to take myself so seriously, you showed me how “make sure of the more important things” and for all of these things I will be eternally grateful. 

I had a front row seat the those long lost boys who tried their darndest to bring home the prize that is, Alyssa Marie Young. I had a front row seat to them promptly being turned right back around and sent along their merry way. That is until the man, the myth, the legend, Dustin. I don’t know how something can be so surprising, and so not surprising at the same time. The happiness you bring to each other is undeniable. You absolutely beam when you’re together and I wouldn’t have accepted any less. 

I have watched you take on many roles in life, and today I will watch you start a new one as Dustin’s wife. I love you two very very much, and I am so blessed to have a friendship like yours in my life. 

Now let’s get you married!!!
