There are so many different ways to plan a wedding. Throughout the pandemic I’ve seen it all. From the micro-wedding to the large and in charge. What never ceases to amaze me is, regardless of how the event actually takes places, my couples absolutely beam on the day of their weddings. Not because of the planning, or the decor, but because they know that this marks the beginning of their marriage. Their commitment to each other. They simply cannot contain their excitement. They absolutely glow with love.
Joshua and Mia chose an intimate ceremony in the botanical gardens here in Anchorage. Like many couples throughout the last few years they had to place their plans on hold because of the pandemic. When I asked them about planning their wedding they didn’t focus on the plans that were lost. They focused on the here and now. Nothing else matters. Not the canceled plans and frustrations. The only thing that matters was today! Because today they are going to become husband and wife.
Joshua and Mia, I can’t tell you what an honor it was to be a guest at your elopement and to be trusted as one of your witnesses. You are two of the sweetest people I have had the privilege of photographing this year. We may not have had the chance to get to know each other well but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind of how much love you have for one another. In our brief time together I can see that your relationship is filled with joy, tenderness, patience, and lots and lots of love. If your ceremony was any indication of what your marriage will be like, I know you will be extremely happy.
