Wedding planning can often times feel hectic. It’s just part of the game!! I often tell brides, it wouldn’t really be a wedding if at least one thing didn’t go awry. Ethan and Yeraldy have taken hectic to a whole new level.
Let’s start with their engagement. Shortly after moving to Alaska in March, Ethan decided to plan his proposal. Being a southern gentleman my birth, he steered directly into being his new found title of Alaskan and decided to plan an epic hike out to a cabin to pop the question. Well, Alaska will do what it will do. Ethan and Yeraldy got snowed out by 8ft of fresh snow, so with that ring burning a hole in his pocket Ethan reluctantly postponed a month. April should be fine right? WRONG. Another fresh blanket of snow. They decided to give the ‘ol college try anyway. “We thought surely we were almost to the end, in reality I guess we only made it about 1/3 of the way”. So there they were, mountainside, not even finished with one adventure, Ethan asked Yeraldy to start a whole new adventure together as husband and wife.
Phew, that should be enough troubles to last them through wedding planning… right? That bring us to their engagement photos. Being new to Alaska I provided Ethan and Yeraldy an array of location options and they settled on a fan favorite, Eklutna Lake. Between a delayed flight, running through airports, lost luggage, delayed delivery, all we were missing was an earthquake to put a cherry on top of this story. Yeraldy called me completely defeated “our bags still aren’t here. We’re still in Anchorage. What should we do”. Like vin diesel in fast & furious I hit the nos on my little traverse and headed back to Anchorage.
After all that you’d think Ethan and Yeraldy would have been in a pretty foul mood. I mean, that is one heck of a day!!! Instead they were beaming. After everything, they were just thrilled to be getting their engagement photos taken and I couldn’t have been happier to be the one to take them.
Ethan and Yeraldy, thank you for be so darn resilient!! You could have easily let the domino effect of the day ruin your experience, but you didn’t. You were all smiles, hand and hand, ready to move onto something wonderful. That right there tells me more about your relationship than words could possible express. There is no doubt in my mind you’re headed for an extremely happy marriage.
