This wedding was doubly special for me. If you already read Nik and Megan’s engagement blog, you’ll understand why. If you haven’t already read it, you should: https://captured-gallery.com/2021/06/18/the-one-with-family/ but to sum it up, I was photographer/wedding guest at this one. I got to see a boy I consider to be like a younger brother to me grow up before my eyes and step into the roll of husband, starting a family of his own with his beautiful new wife.
Genesis chapter 2 verse 20 describes a spouse as a complement and I just can’t think of a better way to describe Nik and Megan. They complement each other, like two pieces of a puzzle AND THEY LOVE PUZZLES. Megan is intelligent, sweet, and sophisticated. And Nik is.. well, Nik! Nik is passionate, dedicated, and a little goofy! Megan will keep him grounded and Nik will keep her giggling.
When preparing for their wedding the officiant, also Megan’s uncle, asked each of them to share what it is they love about the other. Nik shared; “I love how we are good counter balances for each other. She is observant, warm, and cares about everyone around her”. Megan admitted; “Nik is loyal, honest, and kind. I love his sense of humor. He always makes me laugh, and sometimes groan”. Even before all those wonderful things they had to say, everything I needed to know is in the way they look at each other. The way they communicate without uttering a word, it’s beautiful.
Nik and Megan, WAY TO THROW A PARTY!! I enjoyed every single solitary second at your wedding and I am so honored to have been trusted to pull double duty. If I was going to sum up your big day in just one word I would have to go with joy. Your wedding was bursting at the seams with joy. As you continue in your marriage keep considering those qualities you appreciate about each other. Ask yourselves those same questions in five, ten, even twenty years from now. You’ll be surprised what new qualities you find in each other as husband and wife. I think I speak for everyone who loves you when I say we can’t wait to see what happens next.
